Sonam Kapoor’s iconic pantsuit and dramatic curls are the new work wear inspiration

For Bollywood, 2018 is officially the season of pantsuits. Gone are the times when feminine silhouettes and drapes made a style statement. From Deepika Padukone to Aishwarya Rai and Sonam Kapoor, Bollywood actresses have experimented with power dressing leaving behind the dressy gowns and sexy short dresses. This runway trend has transformed the formal attire into a sexy and empowering ensemble. The sharply tailored architectural cuts and bold colours are nothing like you have seen in the past. Although the trend will refresh some memories from the 80’s, you will be seeing a lot more pantsuits in autumn/winter.

Sonam K Ahuja attended the Jio MAMI’s Word to Screen Market welcome dinner in Mumbai wearing an ochre brown pantsuit by Y/Project. Leaving behind the common black and blues, the stars are experimenting with the colour palette too. The overall look of the actress will surely give you some retro vibes with the oversized blazer and bold eyebrows. Sonam wore a pale blue shirt revealing a bit of her cleavage adding to the oomph factor. The accessories are kept to a minimum with hoop earrings and no neckpiece. The wide legged trousers of her suit had buttons in the front giving it a more iconic effect.

The Veere Di Wedding actress was also spotted with a Louis Vuitton boxy clutch and strappy black heels which completed the look in the most sophisticated and empowering manner. Her voluminous waves covering her shoulders are for her upcoming movie, The Zoya Factor. In case you missed it, Ahuja’s oversized blazer proved how comfort dressing doesn’t have to be sloppy.

Rhea Kapoor, who is Sonam Kapoor’s stylist and sister, shared a few pictures of her on Instagram where she looked every bit the ‘BOSS LADY’.

It’s time to update your work wardrobe with pantsuits in muted colours and follow the trend like these Bollywood celebrities.
