Home remedies to prepone and regularize periods naturally

A woman’s reproductive health is directly proportional to her menstrual cycle. The medical term for irregularities in this menstrual cycle is oligomenorrhea. There can be a number of reasons behind this disruption and sometimes we do wish we could control these dates in some ways. At some point, you know your due date clashes with some important events and you don’t want to be worried about your periods at that time. Postponing periods is possible by taking medications but you can prepone your periods in natural ways. With these simple home remedies and a slight change in the diet plan, you can get it over and done with a few days earlier.  Here is a list of some foods which can help you prepone your menstrual dates without any side effects.

Ginger is a natural herb with miraculous properties to induce periods. It stimulates the menstrual flow by consuming in the form of tea or juice. A combination of jaggery and ginger juice in the morning can induce heat around the uterus, thus promoting the contraction. You can also drink ginger tea with honey every morning for a few days before the due date.

In old aunt’s tale, it is often said that pregnant women should not consume pineapple as it contains heat-generating properties. The same is true for altering your period dates. Consuming pineapple in large quantities can stimulate the menstrual flow.

Parsley is one of the most effective food for inducing menstruation for centuries. It contains two substances, apiol and myristicin which stimulates the uterus contraction and prepones your period dates. It can be consumed in the form of tea twice a day. Parsley can also be consumed in the form of liquid. 1 tbsp of parsley should be boiled in 100-200 ml of water thrice a day.

Along with many health benefits, turmeric can also help women in regularizing their periods. You can prepare turmeric tea and drink it empty stomach in the morning and before going to bed. If not tea, you can boil a spoon of turmeric in a glass of water and consume it twice daily. You should start doing it 5-10 days before your regular date.

Dry fruits are very effective in keeping the body warm by their heat-generating properties. Simply, eat dates all through the day in a fixed quantity at least a week before your due date.

Sesame seeds have the same effect on the body as dates have in generating heat. Sesame seeds can do miracles in starting an early menses. Take a handful of sesame seeds and fry them. Consume a teaspoon twice or thrice a day with honey. You can also have sesame seeds with lukewarm water 10-15 days before your regular period.

Like pineapple juice, pomegranate juice is here at your rescue to induce your periods. It contains a high amount of anti-oxidants that can bring your periods earlier. A small quantity of it might not be that helpful but drinking it thrice a day can be very effective. It is also advised that you mix pomegranate juice with sugarcane juice and consume it at least four times a day. You should start doing this mid-cycle for best results.

Papaya is also one of the most effective home remedies to prepone periods as it contains carotene. The raw papaya stimulates uterus contractions by generating excess heat. You can have a bowl of papaya daily at least twice or you can drink papaya juice with lemon squeezed in it which will improve the intake of Vitamin C. You should start eating papaya mid-cycle for effective results.

Found in every Indian household, these seeds can work great for you as well. Boil a tablespoon of coriander seeds in a glass of water till it reduces to half of its quantity. Drink it for thrice a day for a few days before your date. You can do the same with fenugreek seeds too.

Fennel seeds can be added to your ginger/herbal tea to be consumed every morning empty stomach. They have emmenagogue properties which will regulate your periods preventing any cramps. Take a tsp. of fennel seeds and boil it with your ginger tea. You can also boil a tsp. in a glass of water like you are advised to do with coriander and fenugreek seeds. Wait till the water is reduced to half and consume it thrice daily for a few days.
